One person has been killed after a car struck a bus shelter in the southern French city of Marseilles, police say.

The driver has been arrested. Police say it is not clear whether the van was driven deliberately into the shelter in the old port area or whether it was an accident.

But there are reports that another bus shelter in a different district of the city was struck earlier.

Police have advised people to avoid the old port area.

Or we forget about social justice and let true capitalism take hold. Capitalism is the most equal societal system created. Capitalism is colourblind, social class-blind, gender-blind and sexuality-blind.

Real socialism - in the sense I think you mean it, of a truly egalitarian society - can never work as long as humans are involved. Better to try and incorporate social justice into the next best thing.

Agreed. I think it is time for real socialism. Not like all the fake socialisms of the past that weren't socialism but capitalism dressed up as socialism but im talking real socialism.

I agree. Count me in.

The Bolyen was also razed to the ground on account of the 1966 World Cup winning team NOT having a rainbow badge proudly embellished on the front of their shirt.

They should have known (KNOWN) a generation later screaming pooftahs would be up in arms (once removed from each other's arse-holes) over this.

We won't be making THAT mistake again, f'sure.

I've come to the conclusion that because Auschwitz is a symbol of an oppressive history, it should be flattened. Fuck history, we need to consider the most oppressed people in the world (middle class westerners) feelings.

Nailed it. There will be some dodgy fuckers that have infiltrated the lower ends of the Saudi government, people without any true understanding of geopolitics will call for an embargo or vote in a spineless leader that will cut all arms funding of the saudi government, who will then get overthrown by hard-line islamists which will allow terrorist supporters to rise to the very top of the government.

It is a can of worms and sometimes the less the public knows, the better.

I suspect the reason is that it would economically harm Britain's manufacturing. I suspect the funding of terror will be by wealthy individuals and not official Saudi government policy.

I'm betting those wealthy individuals would come to power in Saudi Arabia should the government get overthrown and if we stop arms sales there will be plenty of other countries to supply them...

The Lee-Enfield? Talk about showing your age, as that particular fire arm stopped production in the late fifties, still in active service in the Bangladesh police though so I suppose someone somewhere must still be making parts.

(Modern day) politicians don't give a flying fuck what it takes to get voters voting them into power and keeping them there.

If that means people having jobs, then they care even less that those jobs are manufacturing arms that are exported to - and therefore bettering - a country that can then use it's betterment to fund terrorism back into the politician's home country.

After all, it's a pretty small risk that they will be personally affected by terrorism, made even smaller by the "special protection" they get (/believe they deserve).

Of course, at some stage, the argument will be "Well, these countries will be buying these arms anyway, so may as well try and turn a profit here rather than let someone else do so". The counter to that is that the profit-maker bears little or no risk in such a scenario - how many vans have been driven into the (packed boardroom of the) Lee Enfield factory in anger recently?

Politicians are neither responsible ot (truly) accountable for their actions (Sara Champions "resignation" was in a non-financial area; stuff like that will keep happening in a vain effort to "prove" that politicians reall "do care" - but whatever it takes to move money in the "right direction" (and that most certainly includes the whole foreign aid budget) will continue, literally, at any cost (to society).

All the time (party) politics is seen to trump all else, things won't really change - even terrorism itself is shoe-horned into "left" & "right" areas, as seen fit/required.

Re: Barcelona ..Van Crash
Making public that government report into Saudi funding of extremist activities in the UK would be a start (funding could well come from a similar source on the continent). If you understand how and why they are funded you can possibly cut the cancer out at source.

I really don't mind anyone that worships a god as long as they don't bother me with their ridiculous shit. Muslims bother me.

Read about them because Islam is a cult by any reasonable definition. It advocates the murder or enslavement of Infidels and yet we still allow them into Europe en masse?

They are not just allowed to spread their evil from Muhammed. they are encouraged with charitable tax-free status.

Muhammed was clearly nothing more than a clever tribal war lord that wanted the complete obedience of his followers. How better to do that than claiming a direct line to god through the arch-angel Gabriel. And how did he contact the arch-angel? By going up a mountain alone!

I don't get our modern politicians. Truly they are inept. How many of these economic migrants that ultimately have a stated agenda to kill us are ever sent home?

So why do I have to travel through policed borders when they don't? And why do I have to be virtually strip searched every time I get on a plane?

Leanne Wood has called the attack right-wing terrorism. In america it appears that pulling down artefacts and architecture is an okay thing to do if it has ties to oppressive right-wing.

By her logic, I am assuming she is all for mosques being destroyed.
